MSI presents the world's first laptop with a mini LED screen

At CES 2020, MSI presented the world's first laptop with a mini LED backlight display. The screen of this small bundle of energy for creative
people provides HDR-1000 and can display content in 4K UHD. While Apple's rumors about a new MacBook Pro and iPad Pro with mini LED display are bubbling,
MSI has already presented a laptop that will be launched in the first half of 2020. The new display should achieve a particularly high brightness
of 1,000 cd / m2 and display images homogeneously and with high contrast. MSI uses a very slim design and aluminum for the housing. The latest Intel
processors and Nvidia graphics solutions are slumbering inside the new laptop.

New target group for powerful laptops

Under the Creator line, MSI has reached another milestone in technology with the new Creator 17. Working photographers and creative users in the field of 3D design,
film or animation need powerful and reliable tools. High-performance laptops are therefore suitable for mobile use. The fairly new target group of the
“creative” is finally ready to dig deeper if the performance is right. A look at the hardware from MSI at Mindfactory reveals that current products of the
Creator series can be purchased from MSI between 1,788 and 3,474 euros. What the new Creator 17 notebook should cost is not yet known.

This is what distinguishes the mini-LED technology

TXT: The mini LED technology relies on local dimming. The screen area is divided into 240 zones. These zones can all be individually illuminated.
This in turn ensures high-contrast displays and also prevents the backlight from shimmering through in dark image sections or video scenes.
The last-mentioned blooming effect should not appear on the new display of the Creator 17 laptop from MSI.
The use of the mini LEDs as a display backlight also prevents the so-called screen burn-in, i.e. the burning in of static images.
The ability to darken individual image areas makes the Creator 17 model stand out from the laptop mass. No other notebook can offer that yet.

 Overview of other specs

  • 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space
  • Both the DCI-P3 and the Display P3 standards are supported
  • Interfaces: USB Type-C (8K screen compatible), UHS-III SD card reader (speed of up to 624  MB per second), Thunderbolt connection (output power of up to 27 watts or 9 volts / 3 amps)
  • Brightness of up to 1000 cd / m2
  • 9th generation Intel Core processor
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX GPU
  • Three M2 slots for SSDs
  • Combo version with SATA or PCIe, a pure PCIe slot and a pure SATA slot

So far unknown

  •   How much does the Creator 17 laptop cost?

Mini LED technology sets new standards

In order to be able to fully exploit 8K and the like in the future, further developments are also required for display technology.
At this point, the use of mini-LEDs in the micro-meter class comes into play. Compared to conventional TV sets with self-illuminating displays,
mini LED displays achieve an extraordinary contrast, as well as a powerful luminance from all angles. In conclusion,
the mini-LED technology will take displays and TVs of new generations to a new level. The picture performance of LCD LED TVs is raised to
a previously unattainable level. And at the same time, the longevity of the displays is increased. That sounds promising!
